South African Tours - Tour 3.1

DAY 1 – UPINGTON – TWEE RIVIEREN (260km)
Depart from Upington to Molopo Lodge for drinks and stop at Bushman crafts places. At Twee Rivieren, we book in, have lunch, go for a game drive, and visit some of the water holes. The Botswana and South African Wildlife authorities have cooperated in the management of the two parks since 1948.

In 1999 the Presidents of the two countries signed a treaty that would link the two Parks under one name the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and become one of the largest parks in the world.

The size of the park is quite overwhelming, the South African side is 9591 square kilometer with a further 28400 square kilometer on the Botswana side. The two conservation areas encompass two of the three Kalahari eco- types. The south-western part comprises duneveld with its unique semi-desert vegetation, and the north-eastern part comprises Kalahari plains thornveld. This area incorporates salt pans which play an important role in the life patterns of the Kalahari game.

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is one of the most pristine conservation areas on earth.

DAY 2 –  TWEE RIVIEREN – MATA – MATA CAMP (120 km)
After breakfast we depart to Mata- Mata. Drive in the Auob riverbed for 120km and stop at the waterholes. This is one of the best parts of the park where you can expect most of the predators (Lions, Leopards, and Cheetahs) and game (Blue Wildebeest, Gemsbok, Eland and Springbok.)

DAY 3 – MATA – MATA CAMP – UPINGTON (380 km)
We depart from Mata-Mata back into the Auob riverbed to Kamqua rest place for lunch. We turn off at Aucherlonie and drive over the dunes to the Nossob riverbed via Rooiputs to Twee Riveren and back to Upington.
Depart back to destination in Upington.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Depart to Upington. Drop off at Guest House/Lodge or Airport. Accommodation at own cost.

Accommodation can vary from the itinerary depending on the availability of Lodge/Chalet or camping.
